July's
monthly final table - played August 11th
Yet
another well mannered game with 8 players vying
for a place on the yearly final table.
The game set off as per usual with tentative
play but soon hotted up with some early
casualties it slowed down again when it got to
the last 5, after a short break it was back to
business and 3 players went in quick succession
leaving Paul Haig and Andrew Renwick heads up,
Andrew had taken a big pot off Paul earlier in
the game and Paul did well to make the final but
on the last hand Andrew hit 2 pair K-10 against
Pauls Ace , well done to both players and
congratulations to Andrew on his yearly final
seat.
June's
monthly final table - played July 14th
As always this was another
well mannered game with a tentative start, I
(Dave Blues) led out 1st in a pot with Jason
Borrowdale and took a large chunk of his chips
with a straight against 2 pair, Jason never
really got back into it after that and
went out after about an hour, the rest of the
game went to and fro until Wedgy took a huge pot
and went chip leader, both Wedgy and myself
remained chip leaders and eventually met head to
head after seeing off all the others, on a quick
chip count I had 370.000 chips to Wedgy's
430.000 when we went heads up, after a change of
dealer the cards went dry for me and I bled
chips nearly every hand and with the exception
of a pair of Jacks I picked nothing up that was
worth playing, soon Wedgy got the better of me
when I went all in with a marginal hand and
Wedgy called with a better one and took the
honours, he has now qualified for the yearly
final table. Well done to Wedgy and to all who
made the monthly final.
May's
monthly final table - played June 9th
This was another keenly
fought monthly final with eight qualifiers all
vying for that elusive place on the yearly final
table however as with all these games there can
only be one winner and this time congratulations
must go to Sean Scholey who took the coveted
seat. Well done Sean and well done to all those
who qualified in the first instance, better luck
next month.
April
monthly final table - played 12th May
This monthly final saw all 8
players turn up and proved to be very aggressive
from the start. There was some yo-yo luck going
on and it saw 3 early casualties. In the end we
had a tight heads up between Dan Banton and Rob
Grimwood. Rob done his fair share of bluffing
and also played very aggressive which resulted
in Dan bleeding chips. In the end Dan was forced
to go all in with Rob clinching VICTORY. Well
done Rob and good luck to all those fighting for
this coming months monthly final.

March
monthly final table - played March 31st
The March monthly final was
played early to fit the schedule of most
players, shift patterns etc and by all accounts
it was an interesting game with some players
getting short stacked on more than one occasion
only to rally and pull it all back, it was still
all players on the table at half time so no one
wanted to give up the chance to qualify for the
yearly, however it whittled down to two that
being Andrew Renwick and Peter Gibson for the
heads up and despite some brave play by Andrew
it was Peter who finally took the honours
flopping an Ace high straight when Andrew went
all in. Well done Peter and commiserations to
Andrew.
February's
monthly final table - played March 10th
This was the second monthly
final out of nine all eight qualifiers turned up
and it was a pleasant and at time humorous game
but as always there could only be one winner and
this time it was Maurice Wigham who qualifies
for the yearly final, well done Maurice.
January's
monthly final table - played Feb 10th
February saw the 1st monthly
final table with eight players all vying for the
yearly final table seat, it was an interesting
game with some early chip leaders, but as these
things go it isn't the early leaders who always
win and so it was the case with Jeff Cass after
a slow start making it count when it mattered.
Well done Jeff on your win.
Congratulations to Graeme McCormick on winning the
2009 MPC Poker player of the year.
After what can only be described as the closest
run up to a final since MPC began some 3 years
ago Graeme secured his victory in the last game
of the year by playing his usual tight style
allowing his two nearest rivals to go out.
Congratulations to Graeme on what has been an
excellent year for him, well done.
Graeme
McCormick took the coveted title of
MPC Poker player of the
year 2009 with an
impressive 620 points his nearest rivals were
Dave Renwick and Billy Pegram who came close but
just couldn't quite close the massive gap Graeme
had set. Graeme topped the points board for most of the year slipping back
only occasionally but with his tight no nonsense
play he was always going to be in the running.
All in all it was a riveting year with some
excellent play and some new rising stars.
Maryport Poker Player of the
year
We at MPC had a brilliant 1st year with many new
players joining us and all had a chance to
compete for our 1st ever trophy.
After each game points were awarded according to
the finishing position of each player making the
final table and although it was a close run
thing near the end only one person could win it
and that was Peter Gibson.
Well done Peter from all of us at MPC.
Year two saw another new winner with Ryan Dixon
taking the trophy adding to his yearly final
champion status making this a clean sweep for
Ryan.
Well done Ryan from all of us at MPC.
Year three and yet another new face took the
trophy, this time it was Graeme McCormick
(Stash) after a very tight run up in the last
few weeks Graeme kept his cool and his momentum
to take the championship on the last game.
Well done Graeme from all of us at MPC.
